Throughout his career, he has worked with many top show dogs, achieving great success in the competitive world of dog shows.
One of Steiner's most notable achievements was his association with the German Shepherd, BIS Ch. Covy-Tucker Hill's Manhattan ROM OFA, who won the prestigious Best in Show award at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 1987. This was a significant milestone for both Steiner and the German Sheperd breed, as it was the first time a German Shepherd had won Best in Show at Westminster. All these years later, he is still the only GSD to win Best in Show in the history of the Westminster Kennel Club.
